Should I use the builder’s lender?

Builders often attach their strongest incentive to using an affiliated lender. That can be a genuine savings. It can also hide a rate or fee that is not the best available. The only honest answer is to compare.

How Nelson approaches it

Compare the builder-lender package against at least one independent option, using the same down payment and credit assumptions. Keep the incentive that is actually written. Do not assume you must use the builder’s lender — and do not assume you should avoid them.
