FL Moves With Nelson

Osceola County

Moving to Kissimmee, Florida

Kissimmee is the largest city and county seat of Osceola County. The 2020 Census population was 79,226. It is a principal city of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area and sits on Lake Tohopekaliga.

Where it sits

Kissimmee is immediately south of Orlando in Osceola County. Tourism, hospitality, and service employment are a larger part of the local economy than in inland Polk County cities. That also means traffic patterns around US 192 can look very different from a quiet Polk County street.

Major roads and commuting

  • US 192, a major east–west route associated with the attractions corridor
  • Regional connections toward Orlando, St. Cloud, and Polk County
  • Florida’s Turnpike access in the broader Osceola County area

Drive times are not promised. Traffic toward Orlando and Tampa changes by hour.

Lifestyle, shopping, and daily life

Downtown Kissimmee and the Lake Tohopekaliga waterfront have a different character than the hotel-and-retail stretch along US 192. Relocators should visit both. If your reason for moving is a theme-park job, Kissimmee and nearby Osceola communities may shorten the commute compared with Polk County.

Homes, new construction, and move-in ready

Housing ranges from in-town neighborhoods to planned communities and a large amount of newer construction in the greater Kissimmee / Davenport / Four Corners area. Names on builder signs and “Kissimmee” in marketing do not always match the city limits. Verify the legal city, county, and HOA/CDD.

Things buyers should know

  • Osceola County property taxes, insurance, and community fees can differ from Polk County. Compare apples to apples.
  • US 192 traffic is part of daily life for many Kissimmee-area residents. Drive it at commute hours.
  • Short-term rental rules vary by community and should be verified before choosing a neighborhood.

FAQs

Is Kissimmee the same as living in Orlando?

No. Kissimmee is its own city in Osceola County, even though it is part of the Orlando metro. Your commute, taxes, and neighborhood feel will not be identical to Orlando or to Davenport.

Can Nelson help if I need to be close to the attractions?

Yes. That is a common relocation brief. The right answer might be Kissimmee, St. Cloud, Davenport, or another community depending on budget, commute, and whether you want newer construction.

Nelson Vallejo is committed to the Fair Housing Act and equal housing opportunity. We do not describe neighborhoods in terms of people who live there, school quality rankings, or subjective safety claims.
